The project

We were recommended to Amanda and Chris by Michael Lyons Architects. Their brief was to revamp their bungalow near Blandford in Dorset and add a new oak framed garden room, and we carried out the work in 2024.

We gave the whole bungalow a new look, re-roofing it with Sandtoft 20/20 clay tiles and wrapping the building in insulation and air-dried larch hit and miss cladding in random widths. New IdealCombi windows completed the exterior.

At the same time, we designed and built an oak framed garden room extension with the same external finishes, so old and new read as one. The oak frame is fitted with a triple-glazed direct glazing system, and inside, exposed oak trusses and curved braces frame wide views over the fields.
