Over the past three years we have designed and built three oak framed buildings for Tracey and Dave at their home near Shaftesbury in Dorset, each made to sit naturally alongside the existing stone cottage and barns.
The main building is a large oak framed outbuilding that combines several uses under one roof: a 4m × 6m insulated gym, three garage bays and a two-bay insulated workshop, finished with a log store on the end. It is clad in Siberian larch feather edge boarding on Marnhull stone plinth walls, with Accoya barn doors and a Spanish slate roof fitted with solar panels.
Closer to the house, we added an enclosed oak framed glass porch and a single oak carport, both built with the same Marnhull stone and larch cladding so all three buildings feel like they belong together.
