The project

We were brought in on this project near Tisbury, Wiltshire, through an architect we know. The client wanted to replace an old bay window at the back of his home with a dedicated room for his new grand piano – a light-filled space that opens onto the garden and gives the instrument the setting it deserves.

Working from the architect’s concept design, we developed the detailed design of the oak frame and then carried the project through from start to finish, from taking out the old bay window to handing over the completed room, with around 10 weeks on site.

The finished piano room is a bespoke oak frame with curved braces and pegged joints, glazed from floor to ceiling with high-specification UV glass fitted using a direct glazing system. The

UV glass helps protect the piano and furnishings from sunlight while keeping uninterrupted views across the garden and countryside. Accoya doors, a lead roof with clay plain tile hips and aluminium guttering complete a room that sits naturally alongside the existing timber-clad house.

Dean has done a fantastic job, all delivered on time and on budget. He tells you what is going to happen and that is exactly what does happen. I am delighted with what he has done and would have no hesitation recommending him and his team.
